Storytelling. The cornerstone of human interaction, now and in our distant past. Great stories of struggle, love, war, and peace all find themselves within each one of us. The best storytellers tell these tales of woe through emotion and care for the characters in play. What do these stories show about our human nature? Can stories help us rebuild connections in the modern day?

Trial & Death 3 - Crito comes with an offer
Friday Jun 28, 2019
Friday Jun 28, 2019
The classic story of justice, heart, and thought, the Trial and Death of Socrates documents the end of the greatest philosopher in history from the eyes of his own student: Plato. In the third episode, we close the Socratic Trilogy that makes the end of Plato's early work, just after the trial and death of Socrates. In 'Crito,' Socrates' good friend, Crito, comes to offer him the chance to leave his prison, a prison which he had been living in for about a month. Religious observances in Athens halted any execution of Socrates' punishment and since the end of his trial Socrates has been caged. While many friends have come to plea him to flee, Plato recounts the last of which, Crito, who arrives the day before his ensured execution. Will Socrates take Crito's offer and leave Athens behind or will honor hold him to death? Find out by listening to 'Crito' by Plato in this episode of 'Text-To-Life.'

Trial & Death 2 - Socrates addresses the Court
Friday Jun 21, 2019
Friday Jun 21, 2019
The classic story of justice, heart, and thought, the Trial and Death of Socrates documents the end of the greatest philosopher in history from the eyes of his own student: Plato. In the second episode, we continue to follow Plato's early work as he continues to recount the proceedings of the trial that ended his teacher's life. In 'Apology,' Plato relays the contents of the speech Socrates gave to the court in his own defense. Socrates urges the judges and the audience to understand that he is merely a teacher, told by the gods to do good work. To teach virtue and enlighten minds, young and old. After the sentence against his teacher, Plato tells us the response Socrates gave to the court. Then after the punishment was decided to be death, Plato continues in his retelling of his teacher's reply. In a feat of strength and wisdom, Socrates speaks boldly to the court and invites their entire being to the table. The story told in 'Apology' maintains meanings and warnings that we must also abide by today!

Trial & Death 1 - Socrates meets Euthyphro
Friday Jun 14, 2019
Friday Jun 14, 2019
The classic story of justice, heart, and thought, the Trial and Death of Socrates documents the end of the greatest philosopher in history from the eyes of his own student: Plato. In this first episode, we look to Plato's early work, soon after Socrates had drunk the hemlock. 'Euthyphro' places its titular character, Euthyphro, a self-proclaimed expert of religion, in the difficult position of debating one of the greatest minds in history. As he and Socrates enter into the ideas of piety and impiety, he is lost at what to precisely say to the man that understands all. Dialoguing the back-and-forth of these two characters, Plato highlights the strengths of his teacher and shows all of us important lessons about the world that we happen to have landed in. Listen to the premiere episode of 'Text-To-Life' RIGHT NOW!!

This Is ASMR

Friday May 24, 2019
ASMR. A form of talking and acting that has blossomed an entire niche genre of YouTube and other entertainment platforms. Speaking softly and gently touching items, 'ASMR-ists' can elicit an involuntary pleasure response from their viewers. Can we get to the crux of why this happens, though, and maybe even how? Will doing so give us some incite to why ASMR has become so popular?
