The classic story of justice, heart, and thought, the Trial and Death of Socrates documents the end of the greatest philosopher in history from the eyes of his own student: Plato. In the second episode, we continue to follow Plato's early work as he continues to recount the proceedings of the trial that ended his teacher's life. In 'Apology,' Plato relays the contents of the speech Socrates gave to the court in his own defense. Socrates urges the judges and the audience to understand that he is merely a teacher, told by the gods to do good work. To teach virtue and enlighten minds, young and old. After the sentence against his teacher, Plato tells us the response Socrates gave to the court. Then after the punishment was decided to be death, Plato continues in his retelling of his teacher's reply. In a feat of strength and wisdom, Socrates speaks boldly to the court and invites their entire being to the table. The story told in 'Apology' maintains meanings and warnings that we must also abide by today!
I'm using 'The Internet Classics Archive'! A great resource. Read along with me!
